Clare Thomas is a memory keeper – a multi-disciplinary artist who makes work about home, belonging and memory. In the studio, she creates drawings and collages using magazine images, family photos, and repurposed fabric that tells anew her stories of place and family history. On the beach, her 10-year project of picking up, documenting and storing ocean plastic pollution challenges the profound societal amnesia that has resulted in ever-increasing ocean plastic pollution

Thomas holds an MA in Art and Environment from the University of Falmouth, UK, and her work has been shown in Canada, the UK and Germany. She lives in Victoria, BC, where she is a founding member of BOXCARSIX artist collective.
